INFER Workshop on Spatial Analysis in Energy, Environmental and Innovation Economics

The workshop is organized by: INFER (International Network for Economic Research), Working Group in Regional Economics and Economic Geography & Institute for Future Energy Consumer Needs and Behavior (FCN), RWTH Aachen University

The focus of the workshop is on empirical studies that use methods of spatial statistics and econometrics. In addition to Economists, we invite researchers from the fields of Ecology, Epidemiology, Geography, Geo-informatics, Spatial and Urban Planning, Management studies, and others. Besides research articles, also presentations on methodological approaches embedded in software (e.g. packages/solutions in R - Use-R, MATLAB, Stata) are of interest for the workshop.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

We are happy to welcome the following distinguished keynote speakers:

Prof. Dr. Paul Elhorst (University of Groningen)

Paul is Professor of Regional Economics at the University of Groningen and Editor of Papers in Regional Science. His keynote adress has the topic: A regional unemployment model simultaneously accounting for serial dynamics, weak and strong cross‐sectional dependence (10 am –11.30 am).

Dr. Stephan Bruns (University of Kassel)

Stephan is Head of the junior research group "Meta-Research in Economics” at the University of Kassel. Keynote topic: p‐Hacking and Meta‐Regressions in Observational Research (1.30 pm –2.30 pm).

The aim of this Workshop is to promote and develop exchanges between scientific and practical researchers, data analysts and software developers in the field of spatial analysis with a focus on applications on topics of Energy, Environmental and Innovation Economics. The intention is to publish a special issue in a spatial economic journal with a selection of submitted articles.
