Cooperations
The institute is member of several research consortia and is engaged in cooperations with multiple organisations from industry and academia world-wide. Through our numerous H2020 projects we collaborate with a wide range of European partners from power systems to ICT.
Cooperation with the IAEW
The ACS is an associated institute within the Institute for High Voltage Equipment and Grids, Digitalization and Energy Economics and works closely with the chairs of the institute: High Voltage Equipment and Technology, Transmission Grids and Energy Economics and Active Energy Distribution Grids.
Further RWTH internal cooperations
Furthermore, a strategic cooperation exists with the Fraunhofer-Zentrum Digitale Energie, in which the next stage of convergence of information and communication technology with the energy supply system is being advanced. Prof. Antonello Monti is one of the four professors that are leading this research center.
Our participation in the Center for Wind Drives (CWD) is an example of interdisciplinary collaboration within RWTH.
Further cross-institute collaboration resulted in SENSE (Smart Energy Services) as interdisciplinary cooperation between mechanical engineering (Institute EBC) and electrical engineering (Institute ACS) for research in the area of smart city.
The Research Initiative "Future Electrical Networks" (FEN) builds a growing consortium between RWTH institutes and industry.
External cooperations
Industry
We enjoy intensive cooperation with numerous industrial companies from the energy and ICT sector. The cooperation extends over many publicly funded projects as well as direct industry contracts. The collaborations take place with companies of various sizes, from start-ups to international global corporations.
Universities
Furthermore, we have well established collaborations with the Universities of Padoa (I), Trieste (I), Cagliari (I), Polytecnico di Milano (I) as well as University of South Carolina (US) and Queensland University of Technology (AUS) for common research contributions as well as exchange of researchers.
