Fields of activity

Paul Mathis works on numerical simulation of flows in HVAC components as well as room air flows. In particular, his research projects deal with the optimization of heat radiators, volume flow controllers, heat exchangers, swirl diffusers with regard to components and generic room geometries, airliner cockpits and shops with regard to room air flows.

In 2009, Paul Mathis received his diploma in mechanical engineering from RWTH Aachen University, before starting his research at the institute. His PhD topic is heat transfer enhancement of free convection flows in vertical channels by von-Kármán vortex streets. Since October 2015 he leads the HVAC systems team of the institute.
