Validation of a simplified building model

The objective of this master's thesis is the validation of a low order thermal network model for buildings, which is used in urban district simulation. Requirements of these building models are a simple parameterization and a short simulation time. The model is based on an approach that is presented in German standard VDI 6007-1. The validation itself is performed with the American standard ASHRAE 140. For the evaluation of the validation according to ASHRAE 140 a benchmark-diagram is developed. With help of the procedure of the ASHRAE 140 model modifications are developed. The modifications concern the transmitted shortwave radiation through windows and the equivalent air temperature. The longwave radiation heat exchange in the equivalent air temperature is investigated. Furthermore, an alternative linear radiation model for indoor longwave heat exchange is implemented. The goal of this work is to provide the user with a validated building model and to get a better understanding of different components.
