Fields of activity

Philipp Mehrfeld primarily performs building performance simulations based on highly detailed simulation models. These simulations represent one part of the so-called Hardware-in-the-Loop concept. Hereby, heat pump systems (real hardware components) are coupled to the real-time simulation via a comprehensive test facility and are investigated experimentally. Therefore, Philipp Mehrfeld also works on diverse communication techniques between test facility and simulation, in order to realize a dynamic testing procedure.

CV

Philipp Mehrfeld studied Mechanical Engineering at the RWTH Aachen University from October 2009 to 2014. Hereby, during his master’s studies, he focused on Energy Engineering. Philipp completed his 14-week long internship at Victrex plc in England. During his studies, Philipp worked as a student assistant at the Chair of Technical Thermodynamics as well as at the Institute for Energy Efficient Buildings and Indoor Climate. At the latter one, after completing his studies, Philipp started his career as a research associate.
