Evaluation of an energy management system through hardware-in-the-loop integration

This thesis investigates a MPC based home energy management system. The systems goal is the reduction of the operational costs in residential buildings. The evaluation is done through hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) testing for several test days of an energy setup comprised of a heat pump and two hot water storage tanks. The communication between HEMS and HiL is enabled by utilizing a smart grid module according to the SG-Ready Standard.
