IElectrix is a response to the Horizon 2020 Call for proposals by the European Commission: “Integrated local energy systems (Energy islands)”. The project addresses the challenge of a single and smart European electricity grid in integrating renewable energy sources and promotes the enabler role of the Distribution system operators to connect Local Energy Communities to the network.
The objective of IElectrix project is to develop innovative technical solutions to facilitate the implementation of Local Energy Communities and expediate the integration of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) in the distribution networks in Europe and in India. The project brings together 15 European partners and 1 Indian partner in order to experiment, through 5 real-scale demonstrators, the technical and economical relevance of LEC in different regulatory and ecosystem contexts. The demonstrators are led by 4 European DSOs (Energie Güssing, E.dis, E.on EED and Enedis) and deployed in four different countries: Austria, Germany, Hungary and India.
Objectives and ambitions
- The Increase RES integration into the network
- Connect Local Energy Communities to MV & LV networks
- To Build flexible and smart micro-grids
- The Increase grid resilience and thereby security of supply
- To Improve consumers’ involvement (prosumers)
- Develop innovative and sustainable technical solutions and business model
Diala Nouti, Gaurav Roy and Sebastian Schwarz represented ACS during the official iELECTRIX kick-off meeting that was hosted by the techical project director E.ON at their premises in Essen. The consortium includes 15 European partners from 9 European Union member states and Tata Power from India with the overall objective of increasing the role of Local Energy Communities (LECs) in speeding up Renewable Energy Sources (RES) integration in power grids.
iELECTRIX is part of the EU's largest research and innovation programme, Horizon 2020. The project will run for three and a half years.
Bettina Schäfer and Diala Nouti represented ACS during the coordination kick-off meeting that was hosted by the project coordinator Enedis at their premises in Paris. The consortium includes 15 European partners from 9 European Union member states and Tata Power from India with the overall objective of increasing the role of Local Energy Communities (LECs) for speeding up Renewable Energy Sources (RES) integration in power grids.
